It was reported that the project, launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2018, covers 681 districts across Turkey and continues to be expanded.
The Traveling Cinema for Children project, initiated by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2018, has reached 681 districts over an 8-year period, bringing more than 1.5 million children together with cinema.
Scope of the Project and Figures Reached
The Traveling Cinema for Children project, launched by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2018, has spread across all 81 provinces of Turkey over the past 8 years.
During this period, mobile cinema trucks reaching a total of 681 districts introduced more than 1.5 million children to the excitement of the silver screen and cinema culture.
Access to Places Without Cinemas
Thanks to this special journey extending to districts, towns, and villages lacking movie theaters, children had the opportunity, sometimes for the first time in their lives, to watch a film on the silver screen.
Capacity Increase and Institutional Support
Following intense interest in the project, the access capacity of the Traveling Cinema was further strengthened in 2025 with the support of Türk Telekom, increasing the number of cinema trucks to two.
Operations are carried out through the partnership of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the General Directorate of Cinema, the Set Out for Art Culture and Art Association, and Türk Telekom.
Open-Air Screenings and Social Activities
Within the scope of the project, alongside screenings aimed at children, open-air screenings are organized, particularly during the summer months in district and village squares, bringing cinema enthusiasts of all ages together.
Additionally, film screenings are held in correctional institutions, hospitals, and social service organizations, and artists come together with audiences at certain events.
