The year 2025 marked the highest level ever recorded in terms of both visitor numbers and revenues generated in museums and archaeological sites across Turkey.

Record Number of Visitors in 2025

The year 2025 went down in records as the year when the highest level to date was recorded in both visitor numbers and tourism revenues.

Most Visited Archaeological Sites

The archaeological site that hosted the most visitors in 2025 was the Ephesus Archaeological Site in İzmir, visited by 2 million 552 thousand 734 people throughout the year.

The İzmir Ephesus Archaeological Site was followed by the Denizli Hierapolis (Pamukkale) Archaeological Site with 2 million 302 thousand 218 visitors.

Interest in Cappadocia and Its Surroundings

Nevşehir Göreme Archaeological Site and Paşabağlar Archaeological Site attracted high interest by hosting 1 million 187 thousand 185 and 1 million 143 thousand 434 visitors, respectively.

Kaymaklı Underground City in the region hosted 688 thousand 459 visitors, while Derinkuyu Underground City hosted 548 thousand 687 visitors.

Cultural Assets and Museums

The Galata Tower managed to rank among the most intensely visited cultural assets of 2025 with 953 thousand 537 visitors.

The Istanbul Archaeological Museums hosted 534 thousand 602 visitors, the Troia Archaeological Site 360 thousand 209 visitors, and the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology 312 thousand 951 visitors.
