Cybercrime Operations Nationwide: 547 Suspects Apprehended

In cybercrime operations conducted across 61 provincial centers under the coordination of the Ministry of Interior, a total of 547 suspects, including those in Samsun, were apprehended and referred to the courthouse.
Simultaneous Cyber Operations in 61 Provinces
The Ministry of Interior announced to the public that a total of 547 suspects were apprehended in cybercrime operations centered in 61 provinces, including Samsun.
It was reported that the operations were carried out targeting crimes such as illegal betting, qualified fraud, online child obscenity, and violations of the Cybersecurity Law.
Inter-Institutional Coordination Process
Comprehensive work was carried out under the coordination of the General Directorate of Security's Anti-Cyber Crimes Department, MASAK, and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
Teams from the Anti-Cyber Crimes Branch Directorate affiliated with the provincial police departments directly participated in the operations in the provinces, including Samsun.
Judicial Decisions Taken for Suspects
As a result of the operations carried out over the last five days, 155 of the 547 total suspects apprehended were arrested by the courts to which they were brought.
Additionally, judicial control provisions were applied to 183 individuals within the scope of the investigation, while procedures for the other suspects at the police station are ongoing.
Fraud via Social Media
In technical and physical studies conducted, it was determined that the suspects targeted citizens through social media platforms.
It was reflected in official reports that the suspects defrauded citizens by using themes such as house, car, and land sale prices, and promotional payments.
Illegal Betting and Access to Websites
It was clearly determined that the suspects organized illegal betting and gambling, and mediated money transfers by advertising these websites.
Within the scope of the operation, it was also detected that some suspects carried out unauthorized access to websites belonging to public and legal entities.
The Struggle Continues with Determination
In the statement made by the Ministry of Interior, it was emphasized that the fight against cybercrimes will continue with determination nationwide.
Gratitude was expressed to all police teams taking part in the operation, relevant departmental presidencies, MASAK, and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices.
