Detention period extended for 109 individuals detained during protest in front of Çağlayan Courthouse

The detention period for 109 people, who were detained following a police intervention during the LGBTI+ protest held in front of the Çağlayan Courthouse in Istanbul, has been extended by twenty-four hours upon a prosecutor's decision.
Protest and Police Intervention
The crowd gathered in front of the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan faced police intervention as they wanted to protest the 'My Family is Safe' operations targeting LGBTI+ individuals. As a result of the intervention, a total of one hundred nine people, including members of the press and lawyers, were detained.
Police Transfers and Extension of Period
The detained suspects were initially taken to the Istanbul Police Department on Vatan Avenue. Divided into three groups and transferred to the Vatan, Gayrettepe, and Küçükçekmece police departments, the statement-taking procedures of these individuals have been completed, while their detention periods were extended by another twenty-four hours by a prosecutor's decision.

German ARD TV reporter Sener Azak, who was detained while following the news at the scene, was released after his procedures. BirGün reporter Sarya Toprak, who is being held at the Gayrettepe Police Department, was questioned about her social media posts in addition to her news coverage.
