Nine suspects held in custody as part of the investigation into the Filo Jet passenger ship that sank off the coast of Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus, on August 30 have been brought before a judge for the sixth time. The court decided to extend the detention period of the suspects by an additional seven days due to the ongoing investigation.

Nine suspects, including the captain, crew members, and company employees, were brought before a judge for the sixth time.
Charges and Legal Process
A judicial investigation is being conducted against the suspects on charges of causing death by negligence and carelessness.
The Kyrenia District Court extended the detention period of the suspects by another seven days at the request of the police and citing the ongoing investigation.
Voyage Data Recorder Examination
Assistant Police Inspector Mehmet Mannaş stated that the voyage data recorder, retrieved on September 25, is being examined by experts in Turkey.
It was announced that the data obtained from the device was transferred to a USB flash drive, delivered to the police, and audio samples were taken.
Technical Report and Negligence Allegations
Experts from the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers described previous repairs made to the ship as inadequate and unacceptable in their prepared report.
It was determined that watertight doors, which should have been kept closed during the voyage, were open, negatively affecting the evacuation time.
Missing Persons Search Operations and Toll
In the accident that occurred on Sunday, August 30, 239 people had been rescued alive from the ship.
As part of the investigation, the death toll has reached 18, while search operations for the 10 missing individuals are still ongoing.
