2025 Consumer Complaints Balance Sheet and Inspection Results
According to Ministry of Trade data, over 900,000 applications were made to consumer arbitration committees in 2025, with shoes and textile products being the most complained about.
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced that 907,515 applications were made to consumer arbitration committees in 2025, and on a product basis, the most complaints were directed at shoes, clothing, and textile products.
Number of Applications
Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat shared the 2025 data in his response to a parliamentary question by MHP Deputy Chairman İsmail Özdemir. Accordingly, a total of 907,515 applications were made to consumer arbitration committees throughout the year.
Types of Complaints
According to the information shared by Minister Bolat, 329,888 of the applications fell into the defective goods category. The number of defective service complaints was recorded as 253,853.
Most Complained About Products
Shoes, clothing, and textile products accounted for approximately 19.6 percent of total applications, ranking first. This category was followed by various other consumption and service areas.
Other Prominent Issues
Mobile line subscription stood out with a rate of 4.75 percent, followed by credit card membership fees at 3.97 percent. Furniture received complaints at a rate of 3.71 percent, mobile phones at 3.61 percent, and internet subscriptions at 3.11 percent.
Ministry Inspections
In addition to consumer arbitration committee applications, field inspections by the ministry organization continued. A total of 456,122 inspections were carried out nationwide in 2025.
Administrative Fines Imposed
As a result of the inspections, a total of 1 billion 688 million 329 thousand 874 TL in administrative fines was levied on companies and businesses due to identified violations of regulations.
