2027 revaluation rate and tax and fee hikes will be finalized with October inflation
With the 2027 revaluation rate nearing finalization, curiosity surrounds how much taxes, fees, IMEI registration fees, and meal and rent exemptions will be.
October inflation data is awaited to determine the revaluation rate that will apply in 2027. Once the new rate becomes clear, increases will take place in taxes, fees, IMEI registration fees, international departure fees, and various exemption and threshold amounts.
When Will the Revaluation Rate Be Announced
There is about a month left to determine the revaluation rate to be applied in 2027, and the new rate will be finalized with the announcement of October inflation data. While this rate was applied as 25.49 percent for 2026, the rate reached the 27.81 percent level in September. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has the authority to increase or decrease the rate.
Changes in Taxes, Fees, and Exemptions
The rate, which will become clear after the October inflation data, will lead to changes in numerous tax, fee, and exemption amounts as of January 1, 2027. In line with this rate, taxes, fees, and fines, as well as many amounts such as exemptions regarding employees' meal and transportation expenses and the rental income exemption, will be recalculated.
Meal and Transportation Allowance Exemptions
The amount applied for meal cards given to employees as 301.20 liras excluding VAT and 330 liras including VAT will be re-determined in line with the new rate. The income tax exemption applied for employees' transportation expenses in the event that employers do not provide a shuttle service will also be increased at this rate.
Rental Income and Declaration Thresholds
The exemption amount applied for taxpayers earning rental income was set at 58 thousand liras in 2026, and this amount is expected to rise in 2027. The 400 thousand lira threshold used in the declaration of movable and immovable capital gains subject to withholding tax, along with other exemptions, will also be affected by the new rate.
IMEI and International Departure Fee Hikes
The IMEI registration fee applied for phones brought from abroad, which was 54,258 liras in 2026, will increase according to the revaluation rate in 2027. The new amount for the international departure fee, which is currently 1,250 liras, will also emerge after the rate is finalized.
Vehicle Expenses and Firearm Licenses
The monthly rental fee for each leased passenger automobile was 46 thousand liras in 2026, and this amount will also increase with the new rate. Additionally, firearm carrying and possession license fees, which are valid for five years, will be increased according to the revaluation rate.
