Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that a total of 294 individuals located abroad were extradited to Turkey in the first 9 months of 2026. According to the information provided by Gürlek, 89 people from 16 countries were brought to Turkey in the third quarter of the year alone.

Countries with the Highest Number of Extraditions

The total number of people brought to Turkey in the first 9 months of 2026 reached 294. While Georgia ranked first with 137 people, extraditions were carried out from Germany with 67, Greece with 19, Montenegro with 9, Bulgaria with 8, and the United Kingdom with 5 people.

Emphasis on Inter-Institutional Coordination and Struggle

Gürlek stated that the Ministry of Justice works in coordination with the Ministries of Interior and Foreign Affairs to bring individuals who fled abroad back to Turkey. It was stated that the principle of reciprocity will continue to be observed in international judicial cooperation.
