86-year-old Ahmet Can, who makes a living through agriculture in the Erciş district of Van, continues to contribute to the regional economy and create employment opportunities for numerous agricultural workers by producing peppers on a ten-decare land with his son, despite his advanced age.

Production on a Ten-Decare Field

86-year-old Ahmet Can, living in the Tekevler Neighborhood of Van's Erciş district, continues his long-standing farming activities without interruption.

The experienced farmer, who has made his living from the soil for fifty to sixty years, continues to engage in agricultural production on his ten-decare field together with his son, Erdal Can.

Daily Sale of Six Tons of Peppers

Ahmet Can states that he sends the six tons of peppers he obtains daily from his field to the city center of Van as well as surrounding provinces and districts.

Offering the kilogram of his produce for sale at thirty liras, the elderly producer expresses that he maintains his belief in work and preserves his health.

Employment Provided to Workers

The intensive work carried out in the field also creates an important livelihood door for agricultural workers in the region and contributes to their families' budgets.

Workers who have been engaged in agricultural work for twenty years come to the field with their families and actively take part in the pepper harvesting processes.

Seasonal Yield and Market

Erdal Can states that he has been farming for twenty years and grows products such as tomatoes and cabbages in addition to peppers.

Stating that the yield in the field is quite good this season, the producers deliver the harvested peppers to buyers at the Van wholesale market.
