According to the latest data shared by the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, in the week ending August 21, total loan volume rose to 27 trillion 734.3 billion liras, while Currency-Protected TL Deposit and Participation Accounts came to a complete end.

Increase Experienced in Loan Volume

According to the data of the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency, total loans rose to the level of 27 trillion 734.3 billion TL in the week of August 21.

During the period in question, total loan volume registered an increase of approximately 51 billion Turkish liras compared to the previous week.

Currency-Protected Deposit Accounts Zeroed Out

Currency-Protected TL Deposit and Participation Accounts, which were among the most striking details of the announced weekly statistics, were completely zeroed out.

Changes in Various Loan Items

While consumer loans dropped to 3 trillion 423.5 billion liras, individual credit card spending and borrowing stood at 3 trillion 353.3 billion TL.

Commercial and other loans rose to 20 trillion 957.5 billion liras, while the installment commercial loans item climbed to the level of 4 trillion 230.3 billion TL.

Deposit and Securities Statistics

Total securities reached 7 trillion 970.0 billion Turkish liras, while the total amount of deposits in banks hit 32 trillion 316.5 billion TL.

Total securities held in banks rose to 4 trillion 600.9 billion liras, shaping the asset distribution in the sector.

Foreign Exchange Position and Equity

While the on-balance sheet foreign exchange position was -2 trillion 813.4 billion TL, the off-balance sheet foreign exchange position materialized as 2 trillion 854.8 billion TL.

The foreign exchange net general position rose to 41.43 billion TL, and the banking sector's legal equity reached a total of 5 trillion 983.4 billion liras.
