Annual Inflation Drops Below 30 Percent According to September 2026 TurkStat Data

According to data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, consumer inflation dropped to the level of 29.73% on an annual basis in September 2026. Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek emphasized that this rate fell below 30% for the first time in 57 months since November 2021, while the independent ENAG group announced the annual increase as 46.61%.

According to data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, the consumer price index increased by 1.84% in September compared to the previous month. On an annual basis, the inflation rate was recorded as 29.73%.
Inflation Statement from Minister Şimşek
Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek stated that annual inflation fell below the 30% threshold for the first time after 57 months since November 2021.
Data Announced by ENAG
The independent Inflation Research Group, consisting of academics, announced that inflation increased by 2.10% in September and the 12-month increase rate was 46.61%.
Changes in Main Expenditure Groups
The highest increase in annual inflation was seen in the housing group with 39.99%. This group was followed by transportation with 35.10% and food and non-alcoholic beverages with 27.62%.
Developments in Rent and Food Inflation
Minister Şimşek stated that annual food inflation declined to 27.6%, and rent inflation decreased to 41.3% compared to the same month of the previous year.
Energy Policies and Sliding Scale System
It was announced that, in order to limit the impact of the rise in oil prices, the sliding scale system (eşel mobil) will be gradually phased out for gasoline following diesel.
