Bank Mellat Decision
The Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency took an official decision to revoke the operating license of Bank Mellat's Istanbul central branch. It was announced that the decision was taken within the framework of Banking Law No. 5411.
Mahan Air Flights
Turkey decided to suspend flights to Turkey by the Iran-based private airline company Mahan Air starting tomorrow. It was stated that US sanctions lay behind this decision.
US Sanctions
The US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control had announced new sanctions targeting the Iranian aviation sector. In this context, some Turkey-based companies were also included in the sanctions list.
Status of Other Flights
Mahan Air announced that it would suspend its flights to Oman and Georgia in addition to its flights to Turkey. Authorities reported that the decision is not a general ban and evaluations regarding other carriers are ongoing.
