Comprehensive Refurbishment Program
UK-based flag carrier British Airways has announced the details of its comprehensive cabin refurbishment program covering all four cabin classes in its Airbus A380 fleet. The first refurbished aircraft is targeted to enter commercial service in the coming months.
During the refurbishment process, more than 35,000 independent parts, including galleys, stair structures, and interiors, will be installed on each aircraft.
New Seat Capacity
According to the newly announced configuration, the A380 aircraft will feature a total of 417 seats, comprising 12 First, 106 Club World, 84 World Traveller Plus, and 215 World Traveller seats.
Compared to the current 469-seat layout, seat capacity is being reduced by approximately 11 percent, while premium classes will make up nearly half of the total capacity.
Cabin Layout
In the new layout, the entire upper deck of the aircraft has been allocated to 106 Club Suite business class seats, dedicating the entire upper floor to this class.
The First, World Traveller Plus, and World Traveller classes are positioned on the lower deck of the main fuselage.
Class Details
The Club Suite seats have been designed with additional storage spaces and updated finishes in shades of blue, red, and cream.
For passengers traveling in the middle seats of the First class, the divider panel can be opened to transform the space into a shared area.
Service Schedule
The refurbished First class dining menu and amenity kits were introduced on long-haul flights departing from London Heathrow as of October 1.
Starting from November, new amenity kits and travel kits will be gradually introduced in the economy and premium economy classes.
