Busy data calendar begins for markets
Growth, inflation, foreign trade, and interest rate decisions to be announced in the coming days are at the focus of economic circles.
A busy period is entering in terms of the Turkish economy where critical data and decisions will be announced consecutively; many topics from growth figures to inflation rates will be closely monitored.
Growth Data Expected
Markets have turned their eyes to the second-quarter growth data to be announced tomorrow, and these data are under close surveillance by the economic administration and investors.
August Inflation Figures
The Turkish Statistical Institute will announce the August inflation figures to the public on Thursday, September 3 at 10:00.
As known, the Consumer Price Index had increased by 1.78 percent on a monthly basis in July, and the Domestic Producer Price Index had increased by 1.52 percent.
Provisional Foreign Trade Data
Provisional foreign trade data regarding August are expected to be announced by the Ministry of Trade on Thursday, September 3, and these data carry importance in terms of the foreign trade balance.
Central Bank Interest Rate Decision
The Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey will convene for the sixth time this year to announce the eagerly awaited interest rate decision on September 10.
Balance of Payments and Current Account Deficit
The Central Bank will share the balance of payments data for July with the public on September 11.
While Turkey's current account balance gave a deficit of 4 billion 194 million dollars in June, a surplus of 1 billion 462 million dollars was recorded in the current account balance excluding gold and energy.
