In line with intensive complaints from members, it was announced that commission rates in digital marketplaces have reached the level of 35 percent.
It was stated that mandatory advertising expenditures and cargo deductions increase costs in the food and beverage, real estate, and automotive dealership sectors.
Reflection on Inflation and Consumers
It was noted that high membership fees determined by dominant platforms artificially increase product prices.
It was emphasized that this situation directly fuels food and general consumer inflation, burning the pockets of the final consumer.
International Regulations and Examples
It was stated that there are ceiling limitations supervising platforms in a dominant position in developed markets and the European Union.
It was reported that the rates in Turkey remain at extremely high levels compared to these developed country practices.
Steps Taken Before Institutions
It was expressed that the oligopolistic structure has also drawn the attention of the Competition Authority and that current regulations are essential.
It was conveyed that necessary initiatives are being maintained before TOBB and the Ministry of Trade regarding the subject.

It was noted that commission rates should be reduced to reasonable levels and graded models should be encouraged.
Attention was drawn to the importance of supporting domestic and national alternative platform infrastructures.

The Ministry of Treasury and Finance introducing monthly reporting for digital platforms was welcomed.
It was stated that these steps aimed at preventing tax losses will contribute to saving trade and the public from cost pressure.
