Total reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by approximately $5.3 billion in the week ending August 21, rising to $188.8 billion and marking the highest level of the last five months.

Five-Month Peak in Reserves

Total reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey recorded an increase of approximately $5.3 billion in the one-week period ending August 21.

According to calculations, reserves that stood at $183.5 billion in the week of August 14 rose to $188.8 billion in the week of August 21, reaching the highest level in approximately five months.

Course and Fluctuations Throughout the Year

Central Bank reserves had followed a volatile and predominantly downward trend after hitting their historical peak of $218.2 billion in the week of January 30, 2026.

Following the sharp decline experienced in March, reserves had dropped to $149.2 billion in the week of June 26, hitting their lowest level in approximately six months.

Recovery in July and August

Reserves, which entered a recovery process again in July, rose to $164.4 billion in the week of July 31.

Climbing to $178.4 billion with a strong increase in the week of August 7, reserves reached $13.5... wait, reaching $183.5 billion in the week of August 14.

Comparison with Historical Peak

Total reserves are currently at their highest level in approximately five months since the week of March 13.

Current figures remain approximately $29.4 billion below the historical peak recorded on January 30.
