Central Bank Total Reserves Reach 5.5-Month High

Total reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by approximately $0.08 billion in the week ending August 28, rising to $189.3 billion and reaching their highest level in the last 5.5 months.

Weekly Increase in Reserves Recorded

It was calculated that the total reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey increased by approximately $0.08 billion in the one-week period ending August 28.

According to calculations made by Matriks Haber based on CBRT data, reserves, which were $188.5 billion in the week of August 21, showed an increase in the latest period.

5.5-Month Peak Recorded

As a result of the calculations, reserves rose to $189.3 billion in the week of August 28, marking the highest level in approximately 5.5 months.

It was stated that total reserves reached their highest level seen since the week of March 13.

Fluctuating Course Throughout the Year

After hitting a historical peak of $218.2 billion in the week of January 30, 2026, reserves followed a fluctuating and predominantly downward trend for a period.

Reserves, which dropped sharply in March, had fallen to their lowest level in about six months at $149.2 billion in the week of June 26.

Recovery in July and August

Reserves, which initiated a recovery process in July, rose to $164.4 billion in the week of July 31 and to $178.4 billion in the week of August 7.

Sustaining their upward momentum, reserves managed to reach $188.5 billion in the week of August 21.

Distance from the Historical Peak

In line with the latest figures reached, it was calculated that total reserves remained approximately $28.9 billion below the historical peak seen on January 30.

The date when official data and details will be announced to the public by the CBRT is awaited.

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey will announce official reserve figures on Thursday, September 3, at 14:30.
