Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz evaluated the second-quarter GDP data for 2026, announcing that the Turkish economy grew by 2.3 percent on an annual basis and is following a path compatible with the stability program.
Resilience Against Global Uncertainties
It was stated that despite crisis dynamics in the global economy and geopolitical tensions, the Turkish economy has preserved its macroeconomic stability and dynamism.
Uninterrupted Growth for 24 Quarters
Exhibiting an uninterrupted growth performance for the past 24 quarters, the country's economy showed a similar momentum in the second quarter of 2026.
A quarterly growth of 1.1 percent was recorded based on seasonally and calendar-adjusted data.
National Income Showed an Increase
Gross Domestic Product, which stood at 1.6 trillion dollars in 2025, reached 1.71 trillion dollars on an annualized basis in the second quarter of 2026.
Sectoral Distribution and Growth Rates
While the agriculture sector grew by 13.3 percent, the services sector increased by 1.6 percent, and the industry sector by 2.4 percent; construction activities contracted by 1.9 percent.
Consumption and Investment Data
Total consumption expenditures increased by 2.7 percent, while machinery and equipment investments rose by 1.6 percent.
Thanks to the decline in imports, the contribution of net goods and services exports to growth turned out to be positive.
Medium-Term Program Expectations
Taking into account the 2.5 percent growth in the first six months of the year, it was projected that growth for the entire year might remain slightly below the Medium-Term Program target.
