China has decided to inject $45 billion in capital into its largest banks and insurance companies in order to support economic growth and sustain the flow of credit.

Capital Support for Financial Institutions

According to official announcements made on Sunday, the Ministry of Finance will issue special bonds to recapitalize the country's largest financial institutions.

Within this scope, resources will be provided to eight financial institutions, including the Industrial & Commercial Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, and People's Insurance Company of China.

Growth Targets and Additional Steps

Accelerating its efforts to revitalize the economy, the Chinese administration has carried out a total of 500 billion yuan in state capital transfers since the beginning of 2025.

While Premier Li Qiang called for the achievement of annual growth targets, policymakers are also evaluating additional measures such as credit subsidies.

Economic Risks and Expert Opinions

Beijing is making intensive efforts to limit risks stemming from the real estate sector and local government debt.

Huayuan Securities analyst Liao Zhiming stated that this move aims to proactively adjust capital regulations so that banks can support the real economy.
