CHP's Reaction to Growth Rates: Did Not Reflect on Employment and Prosperity

Republican People's Party (CHP) Group Chairperson Faik Öztrak criticized the TurkStat data announcing that Turkey's economy grew by 2.3 percent in the second quarter of 2026, stating that this picture did not contribute to employment and social welfare.

CHP Group Chairperson Faik Öztrak detailed the economic growth data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) via his social media account.

Öztrak stated that, according to official calculations, the economy grew by 1.1 percent in the second quarter of 2026 compared to the previous three months and by 2.3 percent over the last one-year period.

Employment and Sectoral Impacts of Growth

Arguing that the announced growth figures do not reflect reality, Öztrak expressed that despite activity in the agriculture and information and communication sectors, there was a decline in employment in the industrial field.

Stating that the working segment is experiencing difficulties, Öztrak expressed that the growth in the table has no positive reflection on the citizens' dining table and daily life.

Economic Indicators and Government Policies

Drawing attention to the decrease in the share of labor compensation within the national income, CHP's Öztrak emphasized that investments have entered a slowdown trend and consumption demand has retreated.

Criticizing the economic policies pursued by the government harshly over current economic indicators, Öztrak claimed that the implemented system deepens the problems.
