Cimin Grape Harvest Begins and Launches on the Market in Erzincan

The harvest season has begun for the geographically indicated Cimin Grape, grown in vineyards dating back about 200 years in Erzincan's Üzümlü district. This special product, which falls into the black-seeded table grape category, has been put on sale in markets at 200 liras per kilogram.

Harvest Season and Production Areas

Producers have started working in the fields for the Cimin Grape, which is among the most important products of the winemaking and viticulture tradition maintained for centuries in Erzincan's Üzümlü district. Grape cultivation is carried out on an area of approximately 10,000 decares in the district.

Characteristics of the Cimin Grape

Falling into the black-seeded table grape group, this product draws attention with its unique aroma and tart taste, as well as a lower sugar content compared to other varieties. Producers state that these features make the product different.

Annual Production Volume and Markets

It is stated that an annual average of 6,000 tons of Cimin Grapes are produced in normal seasons. While a significant portion of the production is consumed in the domestic market, it has been noted that the product also receives demand from European and Middle Eastern countries.

Producer Views and Evaluations

Producer Muhammed Karakelle stated that they are carrying out intensive work in the vineyards with the start of the harvest season and that annual production can range between 5 and 10 thousand tons. Mehmet Canbaba, drawing attention to the geographical indication registration of the product, expressed that no matter how much of it is eaten, it does not cause discomfort.
