Consumer confidence index at highest level in last seven years in September
According to TurkStat data, consumer confidence increased on a monthly basis in September, reaching the highest value recorded since the period of July 2018.
According to the September consumer confidence index data announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute, there was an increase of 1.3 percent compared to August, and the index rose to the level of 91.9.
General Change in the Index
The results of the Consumer Tendency Survey, conducted in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey, have been announced. Accordingly, the consumer confidence index, which was 90.8 in August, recorded an increase of 1.3 percent in September.
With this reached level of 91.9, the index attained its highest value since July 2018. In that previous period, the index stood at 92.9.
Financial Situation and Expectations
The index for the financial situation of the household in the current period decreased by 0.1 percent on a monthly basis in September, retreating from the level of 75.4 to 75.3.
In contrast, the household financial situation expectation index regarding the next 12-month period rose by 0.6 percent from the August level of 93.1 to 93.7.
Economic Outlook and Spending Tendency
The general economic situation expectation index covering the next 12-month period was calculated as 89.8, with an increase of 0.5 percent this month from last month's level of 89.4.
On the other hand, the index for the thought of spending on durable consumer goods in the next 12-month period realized as 108.8 with a 3.6 percent increase in September, compared to 105.1 last month.
