Critical Visit to Aleppo by Trade Minister Ömer Bolat

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat paid a comprehensive visit to Aleppo to strengthen commercial ties between Turkey and Syria. Bolat earned the title of being the first foreign minister to visit the city following the overthrow of the regime on December 8, 2024.

Historic Delegation Visit to Aleppo

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat, accompanied by deputy ministers, members of parliament, exporter associations, and trade representatives from numerous provinces, inspected the Sheikh Najjar Organized Industrial Zone in Aleppo.

Minister Bolat stated that he is the first international minister to visit Aleppo, which has opened its doors to the world since the overthrow of the regime on December 8, 2024.

Industrial and Commercial Infrastructure

Emphasizing that Aleppo possesses a strong industrial infrastructure and the characteristic of being an important trade center, Bolat stated that the city works in close contact with Turkey in production and sales networks.

Expressing his hope that the revolution in Syria will be crowned with an economic victory, Bolat noted that the economic wheels in the region have begun to accelerate.

Emphasis on Border Security and Stability

Stating that the operations carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces in past years—namely Euphrates Shield, Afrin, Idlib, and Peace Spring—created a zone of peace and stability in northern Syria, Bolat conveyed that this environment has accelerated economic activities.

Reminding that Turkey is Syria's largest foreign trade partner, Minister Bolat drew attention to the importance of investments, partnerships, and cooperations in the field of transportation.

International Corridors and Business Forum

Stating that investments aimed at modernizing customs gates along the approximately 910-kilometer border have gained momentum, Bolat emphasized the importance of the international corridor extending through the two countries to the Gulf states.

Reminding that they attended the Damascus International Fair yesterday, Bolat announced that a comprehensive business forum with the participation of Turkish and local business people will be held in Aleppo today.
