The transfer, carried out through a complex operation lasting several months, took place in the vaults of the Bank of England.

The Dutch Central Bank (DNB) confirmed that gold worth billions of dollars, located in North America, has been moved to London due to rising geopolitical unrest. Bank official Olaf Sleijpen stated that this move was necessary to strengthen financial resilience and crisis preparedness.
Details and Process of the Operation
According to the statement made on Wednesday, 86 tons of gold were removed from the US and Canada in a complex operation lasting several months. As part of the shipments carried out between March and August, gold transported from New York and Ottawa was transferred to the Bank of England.
Changes in Reserve Distribution
Prior to this move, DNB held 31.3% of its gold in New York and 19.7% in Ottawa. Following the completed transfers, these ratios dropped to 18.5% in both countries, while the share of gold in London increased significantly.
Netherlands' Total Gold Stock
The Netherlands' total gold stock was recorded at 612.4 tons at the end of 2025, and the value of this stock was calculated at 72.2 billion euros. The bank still continues to keep 30.8% of its reserves within the borders of the Netherlands.
