Dutch central bank moves 86 tonnes of gold to UK from US and Canada, citing ‘geopolitical unrest’

The Dutch Central Bank has moved 86 tonnes of gold reserves located in the US and Canada to the British capital, London, citing increasing geopolitical unrest and the need to create rapid intervention capabilities during moments of crisis.

Advantages Provided by London

In a statement made by De Nederlandsche Bank, it was emphasized that the gold reserves held in London can be traded much more easily compared to those in New York and Ottawa.

It was stated that this move will enable the bank to deploy its reserves in the fastest possible manner during potential crisis situations.

Distribution of Reserves and Relocation Process

According to the details of the operation, the transfer process was carried out partly through trading methods and partly through physical gold transfers.

As a result of this operation, which was completed between March and August, the share of gold in London increased while the ratios in the US and Canada were balanced.
