Economic Agenda Intensifies After Summer Period

As the summer months are left behind and the economic agenda gains momentum, markets are focused on the second-quarter growth, August inflation, and foreign trade data to be announced next week.

Second-Quarter Growth Data to Be Announced

Turkey's second-quarter Gross Domestic Product data for the economy will be shared with the public on Monday, August 31 at 10:00 AM. The economy had recorded a growth rate of 2.5 percent in the first quarter of the year.

Economists participating in the AA Finance expectation survey anticipate that the economy will grow by 2.80 percent annually in the second quarter of the year. Labor force statistics for July will also be announced on the same day.

Foreign Trade and Inflation Figures Awaited

Provisional foreign trade data for August is expected to be announced by the Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Exporters Assembly on Thursday, September 3.

August inflation figures will be announced by the Turkish Statistical Institute on the same day. The Consumer Price Index had registered a monthly increase of 1.78 percent in the previous month.

Central Bank and Balance of Payments Calendar

The Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey Monetary Policy Committee will hold its sixth meeting of the year on September 10 and subsequently announce its interest rate decision.

Immediately following the interest rate decision, on September 11, the balance of payments data for July will be announced and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance will announce budget realizations.

Medium-Term Program and Budget Process

Targets regarding key indicators such as growth, inflation, employment, exports, and the current account balance will become clear with the Medium-Term Program covering the 2027-2029 period.

While Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the updated program will be shared in the first week of September, the budget proposal is planned to be submitted to Parliament by October 17.
