Economists' September CBRT interest rate expectations announced
Ahead of the Central Bank's upcoming Monetary Policy Committee meeting, the results of the expectation survey conducted with economists have been finalized.
The vast majority of economists participating in the expectation survey conducted by AA Finans expect the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey to keep the policy rate constant at its September Monetary Policy Committee meeting.
Details of the Expectation Survey
Ahead of the Monetary Policy Committee meeting to be held by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey on Thursday, September 10, the expectation survey organized by AA Finans has been concluded.
Completed with the participation of a total of 25 economists, this survey study clearly revealed the markets' forecasts regarding the meeting in question.
Interest Rate Forecasts
24 out of the 25 economists participating in the survey expressed the view that the policy rate will be left unchanged.
Only one economist predicted that the policy rate would be cut by 100 basis points to 36 percent.
Median Expectations and Year-End Forecasts
While the median of economists' expectations for the September MPC decision was calculated as 37 percent, it was forecasted that the policy rate would be kept constant at this level.
In addition, according to the calculations made, the median of year-end policy rate expectations stood at 35 percent.
Previous Period Decisions
At the Monetary Policy Committee meeting held in July, the policy rate was also left unchanged and kept constant at 37 percent.
