Economists' September Central Bank Interest Rate Expectations Announced
The vast majority of experts participating in the expectation survey for the Central Bank's September MPC meeting stated that no change in interest rates is expected.
The expectation survey conducted by AA Finans prior to the Monetary Policy Committee meeting to be held by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey on Thursday, September 10 has been concluded.
Distribution of Experts Participating in the Survey
A total of 25 economists participated in the expectation survey organized by AA Finans. According to the survey results, the overwhelming majority of experts anticipate that interest rates will remain at their current level.
Expectation of Interest Rates Remaining Constant
Out of the 25 economists participating in the expectation survey, 24 predicted that the policy rate would be kept constant at the Monetary Policy Committee meeting. Only one economist forecasted a 100 basis point cut in interest rates.
Median Forecasts and Year-End Expectations
The median of economists' expectations for the September MPC decision materialized at 37 percent, indicating that the policy rate would be kept constant. Meanwhile, the median of year-end policy rate expectations was calculated as 35 percent.
Previous Decision in July
At the Monetary Policy Committee meeting held by the Central Bank in July, the policy rate was also left unchanged and kept constant at the 37 percent level.
