Evaluations by Ministers and Officials Following the New Medium-Term Program

Following the Medium-Term Program (MTP) for the 2027-2029 period announced at the Presidential Complex, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, relevant ministers, and officials made public statements indicating that support for the productive sector and austerity measures will continue.
Investment and Financing Supports
Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek emphasized that the perception that public savings are achieved by making cuts in investments is incorrect.
Stating that the share of export loans within the total has reached around 12 percent, Şimşek expressed that they prioritize production and exports.
It was pointed out that the share of interest subsidies provided to farmers, as well as tradesmen and SME loans, within total loans has increased.
Public Austerity Steps
It was announced that austerity measures in public spending are being successfully implemented and their share within the budget has declined.
It was stated that the savings achieved in items such as vehicles, buildings, communication, and stationery have reached a significant magnitude in total.
Tax Audits and Informal Economy
It was stated that voluntary compliance is prioritized in the fight against the informal economy and a punitive approach is avoided.
It was explained with figures that audits are concentrated primarily on large and medium-sized companies rather than small businesses.
New MTP Targets of Ministers
Trade Minister Ömer Bolat reported that they aim to increase goods and services exports to $450 billion by 2029.
Labor and Social Security Minister Vedat Işıkhan stated that they will work to increase employment, while other ministers shared targets in their respective fields.
