Fifth wave in fund investigations: Detention warrants issued for 34 suspects

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced in a social media post that the fifth wave operation within the scope of fund investigations has been carried out, and search, seizure, and detention decisions have been issued for 34 suspects.

Details of the Operation

A new phase has been reached in the fund investigations conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Money Laundering Crimes Investigation Bureau. Within the framework of ongoing efforts, search, seizure, and detention decisions were issued for 34 suspects.

Investigation Balance Sheet

Minister of Justice Akın Gürlek announced that the total number of suspects processed so far has reached 217. As a result of the ongoing legal processes, 56 suspects were arrested, while judicial control measures were applied to 88 individuals.

It was stated that the ongoing investigations are not limited only to current funds and suspects. The movements of 26 stocks evaluated to be subject to speculative and manipulative transactions are being meticulously examined.

Status of Assets

Individuals and accounts generating profits at unusual rates have also been included in the scope of the examination. It was stated that the necessary legal processes will be implemented to transfer assets derived from crime to a fund to be established within the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF).
