Total reserves of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey decreased by approximately $3.4 billion to $171 billion in the one-week period ending on September 25. With this decline, central bank reserves recorded a decrease for five consecutive weeks.
Decline in the Last Week
According to Matriks Haber's calculation based on CBRT data, total reserves, which were at the level of $174.4 billion in the week of September 18, decreased by approximately $3.4 billion in the week of September 25 to $171 billion.
Five-Week Streak
According to the released data, total reserves have shown an uninterrupted downward trend for the past five weeks. Reserves were recorded as $188.2 billion on August 28, $184.2 billion on September 4, $178.7 billion on September 11, and $174.4 billion on September 18.
Periodic Course and Peak
Total reserves reached their historical peak at $218.2 billion in the week of January 30, 2026, and then retreated, dropping to $149.2 billion in the week of June 26. Entering a recovery process starting in July, reserves rose to $188.4 billion in the week of August 21.
With the pullback continuing since August 21, the loss in total reserves has reached approximately $17.4 billion. The current level is about $47.2 billion below the historical peak seen on January 30.
