Foreign Exchange Conversion Support for Exporters and the Opening of the Foodist Fair

In his speech at the opening of the Foodist Istanbul International Food and Beverage Products Fair, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat announced that they have provided $4.4 billion in foreign exchange conversion premium support to exporters over 2.5 years. During the fair, ministers and industry representatives evaluated the food sector and export targets.

Foodist Fair Opens Its Doors

Organized in cooperation with Tüyap Tüm Fuarcılık Yapım A.Ş. and ALZ Group, with the support of the Turkey Food Platform, the inaugural Foodist Istanbul International Food and Beverage Products Fair opened its doors with broad participation. Held across ten halls and reaching a 100% occupancy rate, the fair featured 561 domestic and 76 international participants.

Trade Diplomacy and Export Supports

Trade Minister Ömer Bolat stated in his opening speech that, as a ministry, they provide intensive support to fairs and exporters. He noted that they have opened new markets by conducting trade diplomacy with countries that raise technical barriers in food and agriculture, and that Eximbank will provide $60 billion in rediscount support to exporters this year.

Global Food Demand and Agricultural Output

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı emphasized that, according to UN Food and Agriculture Organization projections, the world will need more food than is currently produced. Yumaklı stated that Turkey has risen to 7th place globally in agricultural output, marking the highest level in history.

Sectoral Collaborations and Targets

Turkish Exporters Assembly President Mustafa Gültepe stated that successes in the food sector must be crowned with branding. TÜYAP General Manager İlhan Ersözlü and ALZ Group Chairman of the Board Cihat Alagöz expressed that the fair will open doors to significant collaborations through sectoral B2B meetings.
