Foreign Trade Deficit Increased in July 2026
Turkey's foreign trade data has been released, showing an increase in the deficit in July.
According to provisional data announced in cooperation with the Turkish Statistical Institute and the Ministry of Trade, Turkey's foreign trade deficit increased by 13.6 percent year-on-year in July 2026.
July Export and Import Figures
In July, according to the general trade system, exports increased by 2.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, reaching 25 billion 623 million dollars.
In the same period, imports recorded a 5.1 percent increase, realizing at 32 billion 966 million dollars, and the foreign trade deficit rose to 7 billion 343 million dollars.
Seven-Month Period Data
In the January-July period, exports increased by 3.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year to 161 billion 539 million dollars.
Imports increased by 4.7 percent to reach 222 billion 85 million dollars, playing a role in the rise of the total deficit.
Outlook Excluding Gold and Energy
When energy products and non-monetary gold were excluded, exports increased by 3.1 percent in July to 23 billion 788 million dollars.
Excluding the same items, imports increased by 3.6 percent to 26 billion 194 million dollars, and the deficit in this area was calculated as 2 billion 407 million dollars.
Change in Coverage Ratios
The ratio of exports to imports, which was 79.4 percent in July 2025, declined to 77.7 percent in the same month of 2026.
Across the January-July period, the coverage ratio dropped from 73.6 percent to 72.7 percent.
