Germany Approves 800 Million Euros in Military Shipments to Israel in First Half of the Year

The German government announced that, following the lifting of partial arms export restrictions, it approved the shipment of approximately 800 million euros worth of military supplies to Israel in the January-June period of this year.

Lifting of Export Restrictions

The German government re-approved the shipment of military equipment to Israel after lifting partial arms export restrictions that had been introduced due to policies regarding Gaza.

Prime Minister Friedrich Merz had previously suspended arms exports on August 8, 2025, following the decision to expand attacks, and this decision was repealed on November 24, 2025.

January-June Period License Data

Details were made public in a response by the German Ministry of Economy and Energy to a parliamentary question posed by the opposition Left Party.

It was stated that licenses were granted to German defense industry manufacturers in the January-June period of this year for the supply of military materials to Israel totaling 800 million euros.

Maritime Projects and Submarine Shipment

It was reported that approximately 67 percent of the 735.8 million euro budget approved in the second quarter of the year belongs to a maritime project.

Within this scope, it was noted that a submarine named INS Drakon, built by the German shipbuilding company ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, has set off for Israel.

Opposition Reactions

The government's decision to continue arms shipments drew reactions from the opposition wing.

The parliamentary question submitted by the Left Party and the official responses given brought political debates in the country back to the agenda.
