Global supply chain moves and pension increase scenarios

While the US administration is restructuring its supply chain to ensure security of supply for critical minerals and rare earth elements, calculations have begun in Turkey regarding the potential increase rates that millions of SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees will receive in January 2027.

With the rising electricity demand and the development of advanced technologies in the US, critical minerals and rare earth elements have started to rank among the fundamental building blocks of energy security.

The Donald Trump administration is taking comprehensive steps to reduce dependence on China and guarantee the security of supply required by the defense industry and artificial intelligence technologies.

Global Partnerships and Reserve Move

Within the scope of this strategic process, a broad supply chain, from mining to processing, is being restructured within the US and in cooperation with allied countries.

While strategic partnerships are being established with regions such as Ukraine, Australia, and Greenland, a Strategic Critical Minerals Reserve has been established and the Department of Commerce has been granted export restriction authority.

Inflation Impact on Pensions

The raise rate that SSK and Bağ-Kur retirees in Turkey will receive in January 2027 will become clear based on the official inflation figures for the second half of 2026.

Along with the July and August inflation data, the first two months' portion of the inflation in the second half of the year materialized at the level of 3.65 percent.

Four Different Scenarios for January 2027

Four different raise scenarios, shaped in line with the Medium-Term Program, Central Bank reports, and market expectations, are being focused on.

According to these projections, the lowest pension is expected to vary between 25,601 Turkish Liras and 26,065 Turkish Liras.
