Global Trade Conference to Examine the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Small Economies

The international trade and investment conference, to be organized by the World Trade Centre Georgetown in Guyana in October, will comprehensively address the reflections of artificial intelligence on small economies.
Date and Focus of the Conference
The international trade and investment conference announced by the World Trade Centre Georgetown will be held in Guyana between October 19 and 23, and within the scope of the event, artificial intelligence and the competitiveness of small economies will be specifically discussed.
Roundtable Meeting and Resolutions Adopted
At an informal roundtable meeting held prior to the conference at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, the opportunities and threats of artificial intelligence were evaluated, and it was emphasized that Guyana and developing member states of CARICOM need to accelerate responsible adoption.
Risks such as the misuse of artificial intelligence, economic disruptions, and the loss of human control were identified at the meeting, and a small working team was tasked with preparing a special policy report.
Artificial Intelligence Opportunities in International Trade
In addition to the risks, it was acknowledged by participants that artificial intelligence is a significant cost-saving mechanism for international trade and supports the process in market research, tariff setting, and export documentation.
