Groundbreaking for Trabzon Rail System Line Project to be Held on September 1
The new 16.2-kilometer rail system line, which will serve between Akçaabat and the airport in Trabzon, will have a daily passenger capacity of over 87,000.
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the Trabzon Rail System Line Project, which will bring a new breath of life to Trabzon's urban transportation, will be held on Tuesday, September 1.
Route and Stations of the Project
The first phase of the line will start from the 10th Regional Directorate of Highways in the Yıldızlı Neighborhood of Akçaabat district, pass through Trabzon city center, and end at Trabzon Airport. The 16.2-kilometer-long route will feature 16 stations, including key locations such as the City Hospital, Trabzonspor Stadium, Meydan Park, and Karadeniz Technical University.
Passenger Capacity and Travel Time
The vehicles to serve under the project will have a capacity of 360 passengers. Minister Uraloğlu stated that the travel time of the line is planned to be 26 minutes and 14 seconds, noting that the system is expected to serve over 87,000 passengers daily. This investment aims to provide a significant solution to the growing population and transportation demand in the Akçaabat and Ortahisar districts.
