Historic Record Broken in Wind and Solar Energy in August
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar announced that solar and wind energy production reached an all-time high in August.
According to data from the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, electricity generation from solar and wind reached a total of 9.9 billion kilowatt-hours in August, hitting the highest monthly level of all time.
August Production Figures
Total electricity generation in August amounted to 36.71 billion kilowatt-hours. During this period, hydraulic resources ranked first in production with a 24.7 percent share.
Peak in Solar and Wind
In August, solar-powered generation was recorded at 5.16 billion kilowatt-hours and wind-powered generation at 4.74 billion kilowatt-hours, with the total of these two sources breaking a record.
Share of Renewable and Domestic Energy
During the same period, renewable-sourced electricity generation stood at 56.4 percent, amounting to 20.7 billion kilowatt-hours, while domestic-sourced production was 69.7 percent, totaling 25.58 billion kilowatt-hours.
Daily Production Record
August hosted the highest daily production value of the year 2026. Maximum daily electricity generation reached 1 million 241 thousand 291 megawatt-hours on August 13.
Most Productive Period of the Last 26 Years
Within similar periods since 2000, production from hydraulic, wind, and solar sources reached their highest levels in terms of volume in the first eight months.
