Accidentally Sent Document
According to sources close to the matter, a Morgan Stanley employee inadvertently leaked an internal document containing more than 100 investment banking deals that the company was working on and tracking in Asia. This situation led to the exposure of details regarding the bank's business development processes.
Regional Scope and Content
In the copy of the document seen by Bloomberg News, it was stated that potential initial public offering candidates in the region stretching from China to South Korea and India were included. The list also contained information on funds supporting companies and suspended projects.
Email Sending Process
The list was emailed to certain clients this week by Mohamed Atmani, head of the Asia-Pacific financial sponsors unit within Morgan Stanley's investment banking division. Atmani subsequently attempted to recall the message he had sent.
Statement from the Bank and Official
Atmani, who joined the bank in 2018 and is based in Hong Kong, declined to comment on the matter. Morgan Stanley stated that they take client confidentiality very seriously and took immediate action to address the situation.
