Details of the Price Increase

Iron ore climbed above the $100 per ton level for the first time in seven weeks as investors closed out their positions. Expectations of pre-holiday stock replenishment in China and high freight costs also supported prices.

Increase in Futures Contracts

Iron ore futures used in steel production rose by up to 1.6% in Singapore, reaching $101.10 per ton. This level was recorded as the highest intraday value seen since July 2.

Assessments by Market Experts
