Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atıf Tekin, General Surgery Specialist from Medipol Mega University Hospital, issued important warnings that high heels can trigger hemorrhoidal disease by affecting the pelvic region.

The Relationship Between Foot Structure and Bowel Health

It was stated that there is a strong relationship between foot structure and bowel health. It is noted that high heels directly affect not only the feet, but the balance of the entire body.

Changes in Body Balance

It was stated that even a small change in the angle of the sole of the foot creates an effect extending to the upper regions of the body. It was recorded that when high heels are worn, the body's center of gravity shifts forward.

Extra Pressure on the Pelvic Region

It was stated that the lumbar curve increases to balance the center of gravity and the pelvic region tilts forward. It was emphasized that this postural change creates extra pressure on the pelvic floor muscles.

Effect on Hemorrhoid Formation

It was stated that increased intra-abdominal pressure makes the venous return difficult. It was noted that this situation may eventually pave the way for hemorrhoids to swell and prolapse.
