Istanbul Airport Refreshes Daily Flight Record on August 30

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu announced that Istanbul Airport broke both Turkey's and Europe's daily flight record by operating a total of 1,787 flights on August 30.

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated in a post on his social media account that Istanbul Airport reached the highest daily flight count of all times.

Emphasizing that this success once again demonstrates the power in aviation, Minister Uraloğlu stated that Turkey's rise in the skies continues without slowing down.

The Previous Record Was Broken Two Weeks Ago

Istanbul Airport had reached its highest daily flight count up to that period by operating 1,739 flights on August 16, 2026.

The newly achieved figure of 1,787 flights enabled surpassing this level recorded just two weeks prior.

Record Levels from Previous Years

The airport had previously signed its daily flight record with 1,695 flights on July 18, 2025.

This number had left behind the previous record of 1,690 flights recorded on June 11, 2023, the day of the UEFA Champions League Final.

Position in European Air Traffic

In addition to daily records, Istanbul Airport continues to attract attention with its critical position in European air traffic.

Especially reaching high flight traffic during busy summer periods, the aviation hub ranks among Europe's most important transfer centers.
