Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) Chairman Devlet Bahçeli made important statements regarding fund investigations in the markets and corruption allegations targeting municipalities. Stating that Turkey is going through a cleansing process, Bahçeli emphasized the critical importance of financial stability and the element of trust.

Emphasis on Financial System and Trust

MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli evaluated the fund investigations that have been ongoing in the markets for a while, stating that economic stability depends on financial stability.

Stating that trust is the foundation of the financial system, Bahçeli noted that the trust small investors place in institutional structures when depositing their money is of vital importance.

Economic Costs and Strong Structure

Bahçeli recalled that terrorism, economic sanctions, the July 15 coup attempt, earthquakes, and global crises have historically imposed costs on the Turkish economy.

Despite all these challenges, he emphasized that Turkey has a strong economy that has raised its national income to 1.7 trillion dollars and its GDP per capita to 18,000 dollars.

Investigations Targeting Municipalities

Touching upon the investigations targeting municipalities, Bahçeli stated that the processes starting with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality have gradually extended to other places.

He stated that numerous investigations have been conducted over the last two years under allegations of bribery, extortion, rigging tenders, and organized corruption.

Public Losses and Call for Measures

He expressed that the public losses incurred through corruption should be recovered and given to retirees and low- and fixed-income citizens.

Stating that fund investigations stem from deficiencies in monitoring and auditing, he called for legal, administrative, and structural measures to be taken.
