Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Yumaklı Announces 44 Percent Increase in Cereal Production
Speaking at the IAOM Eurasia Conference in Uzbekistan, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced that wheat and barley production will see a 44 percent increase this year.
Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı announced at the IAOM Eurasia Conference held in Tashkent that production is expected to reach 24.5 million tons of wheat and 10 million tons of barley this year.
Abundant Rains Reflected in Production
Abundant rainfall across the country this year positively reflected on agricultural products. Severe declines in cereal production had been recorded last year due to drought and agricultural frost.
Highest Purchase in TMO History
The Turkish Grain Board (TMO) reached the highest purchase volume in TMO history by procuring 12.3 million tons of cereals at hundreds of purchasing centers across the country this year.
Current Cereal Stocks
Pointing out that 17.5 million tons of cereals are currently stored at the Turkish Grain Board, officials drew attention to the importance of planned agricultural policies alongside the strong harvest.
Position in Global Exports
While Turkey has maintained its leadership in world flour exports since 2005, it continues to rank second in the world in pasta exports.
Turkey-Uzbekistan Relations
It was stated that the bilateral trade volume between Turkey and Uzbekistan has exceeded 3 billion dollars, and it is firmly believed that the targeted growth of 5 billion dollars will be reached in a short time.
