Ministry of Trade Issues Recall Decision for Dangerous Plush Keychain
As a result of inspections, the supply of plush keychains containing non-compliant chemicals, releasing nickel, and posing a choking hazard has been banned from the market.
During product safety inspections conducted by the Ministry of Trade, a plush keychain model posing a risk to children's health and safety was identified. A market recall and sales ban have been issued for the product.
Product Safety Inspections
Within the framework of inspection activities carried out by the Ministry of Trade, plush keychain products offered for children's use were examined in detail.
Identified Risks
Laboratory examinations revealed that the product contained chemical substances exceeding the limits set by regulations and released nickel above permitted levels.
In the tensile test conducted in accordance with the TS EN 71-1 standard, it was determined that the label pin broke, turning into a small piece and creating a choking hazard.
Measures Applied
Following the identified non-conformities, the Ministry decided to ban the supply of the product to the market and recall existing products on August 31, 2026.
Ministry of Trade officials announced to the public that market inspections regarding products threatening children's health will continue resolutely.
