Ministry of Trade Move on Citizenship Phrasing in Real Estate Listings
In response to price increases made by emphasizing citizenship on real estate websites, the Ministry of Trade took action and removed these phrases from hundreds of listings.
The Ministry of Trade launched an investigation into the use of phrases such as "eligible for citizenship" on real estate listing websites to drive up prices and create the perception of marketing citizenship, and had these phrases removed from hundreds of listings.
Citizenship Phrases Removed from Listings
The Ministry of Trade launched an investigation after sales listings were posted on real estate websites with the heading "eligible for citizenship." The determination that this phrasing led to price increases and created a perception that citizenship was being marketed prompted the ministry to take precautions.
As a result of the work carried out by the ministry, the phrases in question were completely removed from 587 real estate listings on one property and vehicle trading website. Steps were also taken to clear similar phrases from other listing platforms.
Statement from Ministry Official
Bekir Kaplan, Press and Public Relations Advisor to the Ministry of Trade, provided information on his social media account regarding the ongoing work. Kaplan stated that cooperation with institutions continues against practices that could lead to speculation.
The statement emphasized that the healthy functioning of markets and citizens' access to accurate and reliable information are safeguarded, and that inspections will continue with determination.
Inspections and New Regulations
The ministry continues its inspections and regulatory efforts uninterruptedly in order to prevent fake listings and listing pollution.
Following the commissioning of the Electronic Listing Verification System, social media platforms were also closely monitored and new rules were implemented.
