More Than 200 Million Packages Recycled Through the DRS System

Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum announced that more than 205 million beverage packages were recycled between July 1 and September 5, 2026, thanks to the Deposit Return System (DRS).

Initial System Data

The Deposit Return System initiated its national integration process across Turkey as of July 1, 2026. Within this scope, a total of 205,709,303 PET, aluminum, and glass beverage packages with the DRS logo were collected up to September 5.

The total number of registered users in the system reached 3,214,992 in a short time. Citizens receive an incentive fee of 1 TL per package.

Provinces Where the Most Packages Were Collected

As a result of the efforts carried out across Turkey, Antalya became the province with the highest number of collected packages, with 46,678,972 units.

Antalya was followed by Istanbul with 38,675,928 packages, Izmir with 24,339,288 packages, Adana with 18,723,778 packages, and Ankara with 16,712,516 packages.

Environmental and Economic Goals

Carried out by the Turkish Environment Agency (TÜÇA) under the coordination of the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change within the scope of the Zero Waste Movement, the DRS system prevents plastics from mixing into nature.

The system aims to collect 25 billion packages every year and provide a total contribution of 30 billion TL to Turkey's economy.
