New $15 Billion Steel Plant to be Established in Iowa
The giant steel plant to be built in Iowa by Mesabi Metallics is planned to start production in 2030 and provide employment for thousands of people.
United States President Donald Trump publicly announced plans for a $15 billion giant steel plant to be established in the state of Iowa, stating that the project will be brought to life entirely with domestic resources.
Plant Details and Targets
The facility to be built by Mesabi Metallics is targeted to begin production by 2030.
It is anticipated that the facility will produce 10 million tons of steel annually and create 1,750 permanent jobs in the state.
Raw Materials and Minnesota Investment
The factory will use iron ore obtained from a new mine where the company has invested $2.5 billion to build in Minnesota.
It was stated that this mining site will produce approximately 7.5 million tons of iron per year and create 350 new job opportunities in the region.
Trade Policies and Financing
It was emphasized that the 50 percent tariffs applied to imported steel are driving companies toward domestic market production.
The Export-Import Bank will provide up to $10 billion in financing for the company's growth move.
