Taking important decisions concerning companies traded on Borsa Istanbul and investors, the Capital Markets Board has implemented new regulations aimed at increasing transparency.

New Shareholding Notification Threshold

In line with the decision of the Capital Markets Board, as of September 11, the shareholding notification obligation threshold in the capital of companies traded on the stock exchange began to be applied as 3 percent.

Tables Updated by MKK

The Central Registry Agency will instantly update the tables of real persons and legal entities who directly own a 3 percent or higher share, as well as those who indirectly own a 10 percent or higher share, including free funds.

Definition of Free Float Shares

With the new regulation, the concept of free float shares was redefined as a concept directly indicating the public offering rate, and calculation methods were clarified.

Groups Excluded from the Free Float Calculation

Many groups such as public legal entities, company founders, related entities subject to consolidation, senior executives, buyback shares, and attached shares were excluded from the free float share calculation.

Market Fraud Investigation

Upon the application of the Capital Markets Board, an investigation was initiated by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding social media posts on the grounds of information-based market fraud.

Manipulation Operation and Detentions

While detention warrants were issued for 5 suspects within the scope of the investigation, 4 suspects were captured in the simultaneous operation, and efforts to find 1 fugitive suspect are ongoing.
