Within the scope of an Istanbul-based investigation launched over allegations that quotas and domestic market sales limitations on starch-based sugar products were violated, searches were conducted at 26 addresses belonging to 25 companies across eight provinces, and 47 suspects were summoned for questioning.
Simultaneous Searches in Eight Provinces
Operations were carried out in the provinces of Kocaeli, Sakarya, Ankara, Konya, Izmir, Gaziantep, and Adana as part of the Istanbul-based investigation.
Searches and document seizures were conducted at 26 different addresses belonging to a total of 25 companies, accelerating the examinations.
Marketed Under Different Names
According to findings in the case file, it is assessed that products in the nature of starch-based sugar, which should not have been supplied to the domestic market, were put on the market using different descriptions.
Invoice and Product Discrepancy
During the examinations, it was determined that certain products were invoiced under different names such as maltodextrin, glucose, starch, and fructose.
It was detected that there were discrepancies between the products shown in the documents and the products actually delivered.
Company Executives Summoned for Questioning
Forty-seven suspects identified as company executives were summoned by authorities for questioning, and the investigation process was deepened.
Comprehensive Accusations Under Investigation
It is stated that the investigation is not limited solely to the allegation of sugar quota violations, but is being conducted in a multifaceted manner over various accusations.
Multifaceted Legal Examinations
The file also includes charges of trading in spoiled or altered food or medicine, tax evasion, and issuing misleading documents.
Additionally, allegations of forgery in private documents and influencing prices are being meticulously examined within the scope of the investigation file.
Inspection Reports of Institutions
At the root of the investigation are the audits by the General Directorate of Sugar of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the examinations by the Tax Inspection Board Presidency.
